In January 1996, the single "Show Me The Way" came out in Europe (Holland, Benelux, France & England). On the 20th of May 1996, Holland's best soul performer CB Milton released his second album : "The Way To Wonderland" (931.389-2-Byte Records Belgium 1996-11 tracks). This album contains 11 tracks : a pleasant mix of Dance tracks ("Do Me", "The Rhythm Of Life", "Take You High", "If You Say High"...) and "ballads" ("How Do I Know"). This album has the particularity to attract not only chart-orientated fans, but also please general listeners. The singles "A Real Love" and "Show me the Way", included in this album, have proved so. His latest single called "Time Is Up" (June 96) is the third single of the album "The Way To Wonderland". The song is a succesfull mix of a club-track and a radio-minded pop song. "Central Seven" were formed in 1996 and have been extremely successful in several European countries ever since. Their single "The Opera" (EAMS Records Switzerland/Panic Records France) for example became a top-10 hit in France. It also did very well in Italy, Australia and the Benelux countries. All in all it was licensed in more than 10 countries. In Germany "Central Seven" managed to get on the waiting list of Media Control Sales Charts. Two different videos of "The Opera" were released, one for the "Original version" broadcasted on MCM, and another for the "Remix version" on VIVA.
Behind the project we find the three Dutch producers Diederiks,
Theunissen & De Schrevel who have been successful producers and remixers for many years. Back in 1993 they were N°1 in France with the act "Egma" and since then they have been producing remixes for bands like Twenty 4 seven, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo, London Beat and many more. The backbones of "Central Seven" are the great Swiss singer Irma and the dancer Frank who has won numerous awards. Irma, for instance, sang the title "Ain´t Nobody" of "The Course", which a few months ago was in the top-10 charts in many European countries, such as a top-5 hit in the UK!
With "The God Of House" they´re starting up their ingenious dance
machine in order to conquer the charts.
It all began during a long drive to Italy. Norbert Reichart, producer and mastermind of Imperio, has always been a great fan of old Roman movies, such as "Ben Hur", and he has always loved their monumental sound. He was constantly fascinated by the aura, the appearance and by the way of living, which prevailed in ancient Rome. While Norbert was driving on the highway to the south, he grasped for his cigarettes (Please Stop Smoking !). Suddenly the print "Veni Vidi Vici" on the packet caught his eye. The idea to make a dancefloor song with these three words was born! After having arrived at home, he immediately started working. The instrumental version was soon finished, but the vocals were still missing. This problem was solved by chance. Some days later Norbert met Manuela Ray in the disco "Dorian Gray" in Frankfurt. Manuela, a girl from Vienna in Austria who was visiting a friend in Frankfurt in germany, was dancing expressively and lively to her favourite rhythm, and Norbert thought: "SHE is the right one !". Then Norbert asked Manuela if she was also able to sing and instead of giving him an answer she turned round and went away; she thought he had wanted to give her the come-on in quite a stupid manner! A lot of persuasion was necessary to convince her that Norbert was not joking. Then Manuela got interested in the whole story and two days later she was already in Norbert's studio : she listened to the instrumental version, read her text, started to sing and - wow!- her voice was perfect! After that Norbert began his search for a suitable rapper, which turned out to be quite a difficult feat. Two months later Norbert and Manuela found at last what they were desperately looking for. In a very big club in Budapest there was a concert, and they saw Paulo Martins on stage ! He was rapping and dancing wildly and he spread such a charisma all around, that Norbert and Manuela were immediately fascinated by him! After the performance they went in the cloakroom and asked Paulo if he would like to become a rapper and dancer with Imperio. The answer was fortunately affirmative! Now the conquest of the clubs and of the international charts could begin ! Even though everyone thought that Imperio would remain forever with their original members, Paulo suddenly had to leave the group because of his dedication to his family and to his studies back in Portugal. It was a great time with Paulo, and we will always stay in contact with him. The name of the new male part of Imperio is Lawrence Madia, he has already made a place in the hearts of fans ! Lawrence is a talented dancer and rapper, and he is also very good-looking !
The first formation sang on the first album "Veni Vidi Vici" (1995-Metrovynil/EAMS-CD 3500.2-13 tracks) including the 4 top hits "Veni Vidi Vici" (June 1994-NR Music/EAMS/Do It Music France-MaxiCD 2315.2-3 mixes), "Quo Vadis" (1995-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2321.2-5 mixes), "Nostra Culpa" (1995-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2323.2-4 mixes) & "Amor Infinitus" (1995-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2329.2-5 mixes). The songs on this first album are fast and sounded as a prelude of "happy hardcore" songs. Then, Manuela was back alone in July 1996 with "Cyberdream" (July 1996-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2334.2-5 mixes), a Dream Music inspired song, whose video was played on French TV channels MCM and M6. In October 1996, the follow-up, "Atlantis" (October 1996-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2337.2-4 mixes) was featuring Lawrence for the first time in the video only broadcasted on VIVA. Finally, in November 1996, their second album "Return To Paradise" (November 1996-NR Music/EAMS-12 tracks + CD Rom track !) was released with the new single also called "Return To Paradise" (November 1996-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2341.2-4 mixes) whose video was also broadcasted on VIVA. The album "Return To Paradise" came out in Austria & in Germany and includes a CD-Rom track whose contains all songs from Imperio, a sample :-( of the video of "Atlantis" and the making of "Atlantis", biographies... Their latest single "Wings Of love" (17 March 1997-NR Music/EAMS-MaxiCD 2344.2-4 mixes) is a good Eurodance song produced by Italians, unfortunately the video wasn't broadcast on any Satellite TV chanels in Europe... Imperio's news are calm now but the group is still touring in East Europe, so check their well done Official Web Site in order to keep updated !
